“One of the biggest joint efforts in music history”….I‘m still waiting
Confusion over how good Hov and Ye’s Watch The Throne.
If you’ve got big masterpiece expectations - then no. They’ve sampled serious serious tracks by: Otis Redding, Nina Simone, James Brown, Curtis Mayfield and Flux Pavilion and then there’s the array of ft. artists: Mr Hudson, Beyoncé and Frank Ocean AND THEN production with Swizz Beats and The Neptunes
But using a formula of amazing samples + big featuring artists + super producers does not = a masterpiece.
But if you don’t have mad high expectations (why wouldn’t you?? it’s Jay Z and Kanye West) - It’s a good album with some sick good time tracks.
But maybe lacks the substance and depth lyrically we know that The Throne possess.
